The Art of Resoration
Exact restoration is a rare art, but a distinctly enjoyable one at JONES & JONES. Restoration is rare as modern standards generally oppose exact replication of the old. An exact restoration of an early 1800's house would mean no insulation, no running water, and no electricity.
Restoration work includes
- Old houses
- Carriage sheds
- Small barns
We often restore aspects of old structures, such as hand-hewn beams, to preserve the history and ambience of a particular era, then modernize it for function and efficiency. At JONES & JONES we treasure this link to our history.
Above, Smallman house circa 1810, Orford NH was moved from its original location, set on a new foundation and restored.
